Lose for Good
I went back to weight watchers today. It was good and depressing at the same time. Here I am again, once again, creeping towards the weight I was when I started there last year. So basically I feel as though I am starting over, but I guess that is better than quitting.
OK……this is big and exciting. I am scared to try this because it will be hard, but I am also excited about the challenge. WW is starting their second Lose for Good campaign, so I picked the right week to start back. Basically, ww will donate $1 of food for every pound that is lost from now until Oct. 17th. Last year was the first time and 4 million pounds were lost in those 7 weeks. They do set a limit of donating $1million, so last year they donated $1million to two different hunger relief organizations. The local chapters also collected food donations from members to give to local food pantries. They collected a total of 1.9 million pounds of food during that time. I feel like it is a pretty amazing thing to be part of. Anyway, I want to do my part by losing as much weight as I can between now and Oct. 17th by setting some quite challenging goals for myself.
I have been doing so more reading this week about the importance of whole/ real foods in our diet. I reallly want to be as healthy as I can, so here is my challenge for the next 7 weeks:
1. Eliminate refined carbohydrates and processed foods. “If it didn’t have a mother or it didn’t grow from the ground, don’t eat it”.
2. I will only drink water, green tea, coffe, milk or fruit juices.
3. I will not eat any fast food. I will bring my lunch to work, and not eat from the cafeteria or vending machines. I would also like to challenge myself to not buy any fast food for my children during this time either. This is going to be especially challenging when we start dance, volleyball and football in the next few weeks.
4. Quit eating at 7 p.m. I want to feel hungry when I go to bed……..make myself think about all the people in this world that are truly hungry.
5. Exercise/sweat for 30min at least 5 days/ week.
Quote from ww today “Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending”.
It always perplexes me to think of all the “starving” people in our world and compare it to the number of people that are working every day to control what goes in their mouth as to not eat too much. It is such an imbalance.
OK…anyone else up for the challenge…..you have nothing to lose but a few pounds!!!!
OK>>>>ready, set, go!!!!
Here is what I will eat:
any fruits and vegetables, non-processed meats, grains that have not been processed, nuts, milk & eggs.
I can’t wait to see how much better I feel following this eating plan.
