Going good here!

I haven’t really been home this weekend much to post, but things have been good.  It is my weekend to work at the hospital.  I worked the last 2 days (which involved leaving my house at about 0500 and getting home about 7:30 – 8:00 at night…..so not much time to do anything else).  I was supposed to go to work this morning, but got called to be on low census call, so now I am home until the phone rings if they admit and need me.   I guess I should have just gone back to bed, but obviously didn’t….so here I am.

I have to say, this week has been going good.  Last week I made my profession that I was done “dieting”.  Now, I realize that it has only been a week, and no “lifestyle change” has been solidified in just one week, but I have really enjoyed the mindset I have had.  It has really been too good to be true, so perhaps it is…time will tell.  I just keep telling myself, there is now food that is off limits, and I do not need to be ashamed or feel quilty about wanting to eat a certain food.  It really helps, instead of having this “diet” mindset of …I can’t eat this or that….I just let myself chose.  I no longer get into the trouble of…”I better eat this today, because my diet starts tomorrow and I won’t get to eat anything good for such and such a time”.  I have kept my calries between 1500-2000 each day, which I think is a good place for me.  I have enjoyed a twix candybar, a blizzard and a snickers bar this past week, so I have not deprived myself of some treats now and then.  It has been great.  We will see if the scale agrees in a few days !

One of the nurses I work, she is in her 50’s, has been heavy ever since I began working with her 13 years ago.  About 2 -3 years ago, she quit dieting too…..she then lost about 40-50lbs and has been there now for a couple years now.  Whenever people ask her how she lost weight….she simply says  “I quit dieting”.  She walks 3-4 days/wk, but otherwise she eats what she wants.  Now obviously, she is not consuming huge amounts of calories, but she just doesn’t ever say “no, that food is completely off limits”.  It is interesting.

Well, that is all of my babble for now.  Hope you are doing good Eric!  Ellen, I just read your post and sounds like you are doing good overall, so that is what matters most.  I definitely know how hard it is to stay away from the pop.  It does add up quick though when you are drinkning alot of calories.  I bought myself a nice water bottle, that I try to take it with me everywhere.  There are many great mix-ins you can get for your water bottle, that taste great and are low calorie or calorie free…….that might help.

If I don’t get called into work today, I might try to get in a run early this evening.  I did get up early yesterday morning (0350) and got in a 3 mile run before work.   That is always a good way to start your morning.

    That is good! And I think you are totally right in saying that the best thing is when you set your mind to “quit dieting” and it really loosens up the stress.
