3am nap in the car somewhere in Minnesota..

After keeping Walt & Mary up late last night, I felt it imperative that I show my early morning spirit by getting up to share coffee with them before I left. We chatted a little before their granddaughter arrived and I found it time to be on my way.img_15501

Walt had suggested last night that I should consider visiting Westminster College a half hour back up the road. He spoke of the importance that the college has held over the years with historical speeches. He mentioned that the term “Iron Curtain” was actually coined by Winston Churchill during a speech given at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. As if that wasn’t interesting enough, it turns out that Gorbachev gave a speech declaring the end to the “Cold War” there too.  I’m not sure that was enough to persuade me to drive the extra hour to visit the school, museum, and monument, but he had me sold when he told me about a piece of the Berlin Wall on display. I was off to Westminster for the morning to check out the historical spot.

My next stop after Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. was Lawrence Kansas with a short stop in Kansas City to snap my obligatory shot in front of Arrowhead Stadium.  Traffic in Kansas City was horrible due to a Royals baseball game, making me question whether the hassle was worth it or not.

Overall, today was pretty uneventful and probably not worth writing about. I saw the museum, took a picture in front of the stadium, and made a short trip into Kansas to visit the Univ. of Kansas campus.  The campus was a beautiful campus, but most college campuses are.

The rest of the evening was spent driving.  I drove through Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota.  Around 4am, I pulled over at a rest stop

close to the border of Wisconsin to take a nap.  I slept for a few hours and than it was back on my way. So, with my system loaded with Red Bull and Coffee, I proceeded to drive, drive, drive.

For those of you asking about the photos and diet.  I promise I will get all that up to date in the next couple of days.

Next stop…Lambeau Field in Green Bay Wisconsin.
